Visa Information / Entry requirements – Belize
This page reflects the UK government’s understanding of current rules for people travelling on a full ‘British Citizen’ passport from the UK, for the most common types of travel.
The authorities in Belize set and enforce entry rules. If you’re unsure how Belize’s entry requirements apply to you, contact its UK embassy, high commission or consulate.
All travellers
British nationals do not need a visa to enter Belize. On arrival, you’ll be allowed to enter for one month. Any extension to remain in the country will incur a fee of BZD$200 for each month’s extension.
There are no direct flights between the UK and Belize. The regulations of countries that you may pass through and / or UK requirements on travel from transit countries may affect your travel. For more information see FCDO Travel Advice on the countries through which you may travel or transit.
There is no longer a requirement to present proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test and the Belize Travel Insurance is no longer mandatory for foreign tourists.
You should avoid bringing in home COVID-19 tests; they will be confiscated if found.

Travelling with children
Single parents or adults travelling with children under the age of 18 are required to provide notarised documentary evidence of parental responsibility, or consent to travel from those with parental responsibility. Such documentation is often required before being allowed to enter Belize and, in some cases, before permitting children to leave the country.
Departure tax
When leaving by air, the departure tax is usually included in the airfare. When leaving by land, the departure tax is BZD$40 or US$20, which must be paid in cash.

Tourism Health Information – Belize
If you have a health condition, or you are pregnant, you may need specialist healthcare abroad. Check whether your destination country can provide the healthcare you may need and ensure you have appropriate travel insurance for unexpected medical evacuation or local treatment.

The legal status and regulation of some medicines prescribed or purchased in the UK can be different in other countries. If you’re travelling with prescription or over-the-counter medicine, read this guidance from NaTHNaC on best practice when travelling with medicines. For further information on the legal status of a specific medicine, you’ll need to contact the embassy, high commission or consulate of the country or territory you’re travelling to.
While travel can be enjoyable, it can sometimes be challenging. There are clear links between mental and physical health, so looking after yourself during travel and when abroad is important. Medical treatment
If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 911 and ask for an ambulance. You should contact your insurance/medical assistance company promptly if you are referred to a medical facility for treatment.
Medical facilities in Belize are limited and availability of prescription medicine inconsistent. For a full list of health care providers and services, visit Belize: medical facilities. Serious medical cases are normally evacuated to the United States (at the patient’s expense) – this could take longer than usual with COVID-19 protocols in place. Make sure you have adequate travel health insurance and accessible funds to cover the cost of any medical treatment abroad and repatriation.
Weather & When To Go – Belize
Belize’s ‘summer’ is known as the dry season which runs from December through to April, and the rainy season runs from June through October. Whereas May and November are ‘shoulder’ periods as one season evolves into the other from dry to rainy or rainy to dry.
Weather is warm all year round with average temps 24 degrees C from November to January, and gradually warming up to 27 degree C average May to September when it is at its hottest. Coldest night time temp is around 10 degrees C and hottest it will likely get at height of day is 32 degrees C
Rainy season sees tropical rain where you get downpours for an hour or so most days, then it clears up refreshed. Often the rain can come at same time each day which could be at night time or evening – so Belize still sees plenty of visitors in the UK and European and USA summer holiday period of July and August. However it should be noted that the region can see hurricanes in October.
